ABOUT THE SOCIETY

|
From September to May (usually on the last Wednesday of each month) the Society holds its monthly meeting at the Lord Street West Church Hall (corner of Lord Street and Duke Street) beginning at 8.00. p.m. A variety of speakers talk on different horticultural topics often with films or slides and the meetings usually last two hours with a break for refreshments.

Most of the monthly meetings cover general subjects connected with gardening, but for chrysanthemum enthusiasts specialised meetings are organised each year, usually addressed by growers who have attained national recognition.
Three local flower shows are organised - the Spring Flower Show towards the end of March and the Summer Show at the beginning of September - both of which are held at the Botanic Gardens, Southport. The Society is currently looking for a new venue for the Autumn Chrysanthemum and Floral Art Show held at the end of October.
The Society is a registered charity (No 519273) enabling it to use all its resources on furthering the aims and enjoyment of horticulture. Its Management Committee comprises the President , Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer and 12 other members, all elected at the Annual General Meeting held in February.
